how to create ceramic decal

A ceramic decal is a type of decoration that can be applied to a glazed ceramic surface. Here’s a general process for creating a ceramic decal:

Ceramic Decal
  1. Design the decal: This can be done using a variety of software, such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop. The design should be created in reverse, as the decal will be transferred onto the ceramic surface in a mirror image.
  2. Print the decal: The design is then printed onto a special type of transfer paper, which is specially coated to allow the ink to bond with the ceramic glaze.
  3. Cut the decal: The printed decal is then cut into the desired shape using a sharp blade or scissors.
  4. Apply the decal: The decal is then placed onto the ceramic surface and smoothed out to remove any air bubbles.
  5. Fire the decal: The ceramic piece with the decal is then fired in a kiln at temperatures between 1200-1400°F (650-760°C) to melt and fuse the decal to the glaze.
  6. Finish glaze and fire again (Optional step) : If you want to add color to the decal it can be done by applying glaze over the decal and fired again.
  7. It’s important to note that the steps vary depending on the type of ceramic and glaze being used, so be sure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for the specific materials you are working with.
